Project Opening 28th May seen the Grand opening of our refurbished youth project in Town End Farm. Historically popular the youth project was in desperate need of repair so with support from staff a group of young people made an application to the Youth Opportunity Fund and were granted £25000. The group quickly set about planning and designing their new project and after what seems like forever we are ready to unveil it to the world.
SHOKKS Coming soon to a youth project near you! SHOKKS is a range of urban fitness equipment designed specifically for young people incorporating martial arts, cardio and a few surprises. A session using this equipment will not only help you get fitter it’s also loads of fun.
Quality Assurance Last year we were one of only four voluntary youth organisations in the City to be awarded the 14-19 Quality Assurance Standard (Silver) for our educational work with young people. We have since improved the range and quality of training opportunities for the young people we work with and are currently working towards the achievement of the Gold standard.
Friday Night Football Each week over 100 young people attend our Friday Football events held at the Downhill sports complex and the Castleview centre. Downhill is open to young people aged between 13 and 19 and runs from 6pm till 8pm. Castleview is open from 7pm till 8pm for young people aged 12 to 15 and from 8pm till 9pm for young people aged 15 to 19. Sessions are free and young people are encouraged to simply pop along and join in.
GO4IT Providing stimulating activities and courses to young people aged 14 -19 GO4IT aims to engage young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or in danger of becoming NEET. The aim of the project is provide these young people with the confidence, skills and qualifications needed to progress into work, college, training scheme or apprenticeship.
Seaburn Centre – (SNCBC and KICKS) -SNCBC are currently working in partnership with KICKZ to provide diversionary activities on a Friday evening at the centre. Activities available are football, gym, arts and crafts amongst other things.
Learn to Drive Working alongside our youth work team young people aged 17 and 19 complete a 10 week programme which prepares them for their theory test. Funding is available for a provisional license and to pay for the theory test. |
