Foundation Learning is a programme aimed at young people aged 16-19 and runs Monday to Thursday every week. Students follow a carefully tailored programme, based on an initial assessment which identifies prior achievements, educational needs and future goals. Young people can achieve a Personal Social and Development qualification.
Aiming High in keeping with the Every Child Matters Agenda, the project engages young people with special needs in healthy physical activities. The programme addresses the social isolation that is experienced by some young people at times of the week when they are not in school, employment or at educational centres.
Detached work in being undertaken in Ryhope and St Michael’s Wards meeting the needs of young people. The project is an integral part of a comprehensive youth work strategy that offers support, advice and contact to young people who may not otherwise access youth services.
Inclusion work at Blue Watch is aimed at self-excluded, at risk or under achieving young people. The provision has been adapted to suit individual and group needs with participants being encouraged to become involved in structured and rewarding activities leading to nationally recognised qualifications. |
