Project News

August newsletter - news of what we have been up to over the summer

Website Development - Our media group has been working hard to produce our own websit. Please take a look and leave us some feedback!!!

Award Winners - The Box Youth Project received a Here to Help Award of £3,000 from Save the Children to improve their youth building. As a result of the work undertaken by our youth group, our project was nominated for an award "in recognition for outstanding services to children.” We won the category and two young people travelled down to the Houses of Parliament in London with a worker to receive the award on behalf of the Box Youth Project. The Save the Children Programme Manager, Roxanne Brown said in her speech" this group has made the biggest contribution to improving the local environment for children and young people living in their community." Our local MP, Fraser Kemp attended the presentation event and congratulated the young people representing the Box Youth Project.

Play Consultation - The Box Youth Project was commissioned by Community & Cultural Services to undertake a consultation with young people regarding the development of play facilities on St Matthew’s Field in Doxford Park. This piece of work has given young people from the area an opportunity to say what type of play/leisure facilities they would like to have in their area. We ran 5 focus groups with 69 young people and we also completed a door-to-door survey with local residents who live in the immediate vicinity of the proposed facilities. Young people will be invited back to comment upon the plans once they have been developed by CCS………WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!
